This course equips educators with the evidence-based tools they need to effectively integrating the science of reading into their literacy instruction. Participants explore the llimitations of current models, and learn how to pull on historical and emerging scientific understandingsto enhance rather than undermine and ignore the existing body of knowledge. The course covers scientific driven pathways to literacy, building foundation skills that support rapid progression in language and literacy acquisition, tracking progress and addressing exceptional difficulties, and transitioning away from a strong SOR approach when students no longer need it. By the end of the course, educators will have the knowledge and tools they need to effectively implement SOR based on solid understanding of the 300 years of research that precede recent discoveries.
